Cristian Ruiz holds a MA in Communication Sciences, specialization area in Contemporary Culture and New Technologies from Nova University of Lisbon and currently is building his very early stage researcher career. Interested in Digital Methods and Network Sciences and its application to different study fields, as well as the relation of digital media with election process in representative democracies.
Graduated in Modern Languages with Digital Communication emphasis, from the EAN University in Bogotá, Colombia. Before moving to Lisbon, participated in political campaigns managing social media strategies of engagement with electorate. Since 2017 have collaborated with iNova Media Lab, being part of SMART group (Social Media Research Techniques), where is co-authoring many papers, and co-organizing the SMART Data Sprint, an intensive hands-on work project that pretends to approach social sciences and humanist researchers to online data-driven methods.
Since September 2018, he is involved at IN+ Center for Innovation, Technology and Policy Research in the e4Value project, with a research scholarship.
